Maggie Edmunds, Certified Low Vision Therapist, has been working in our Low Vision Clinic for almost 18 years! She went back to school in 2010 to pursue her master’s certificate in low vision and today she supervises the low vision team. Maggie spends her days working with clients of all ages to select low vision devices and she provides the training to use them. The goal is to help people who are blind or visually impaired utilize their remaining vision so they can live independent lives.
Over the years Maggie has witnessed firsthand how vision loss can affect a person and the entire family unit. Maggie is very empathetic with her patients, and her background in social work has given her a lot of knowledge about psychosocial issues that the patient may be experiencing as they lose vision. For Maggie being able to provide tools and services that allow clients and families to remove barriers is truly rewarding, and Maggie values the gratitude and appreciation clients have shown her over the years. Maggie’s staff agrees that she understands the importance of being a team in our clinic because collaboration, communication, and working together can truly bring about transformative change in our clients lives.
Outside of work Maggie loves spending time with her 2 daughters (Taylor -19 and Morgan-14), watching movies and walking her dog Bella.
